Measure how much Luganda you have learnt so far
If you have invested in learning Luganda , then think about how much you know so far. There are two variables that you can use to determine how much of the language you know.
The speech rate and utterance length will tell how good on effort you have made learning the language of Luganda. With these two, here are a couple of ways you can determine the speech rate and the utterance rate
Follow along with movies or TV shows
When you are watching the show, do not use sub titles and see how much you understand of what is being said. This will be an indication whether you can pick on the phrases, key words, even just to understand what the move is about and how long it is taking you to keep up. As you go along, you will finally pick a rhythm of how much information you actually understand.
Write down often
When studying a language, write down as much as possible and then take some time are re-read it to see how much of it you know and understand its meaning. You can use cards to help and see how many of the words you know from that list.
This will keep you knowing your progress of your learning and whether the methods you are using are working or not.
Record yourself speaking your target language
Practicing self-talk is powerful and it can not only help you greatly improve your language skills. This makes the process of learning a language at home easy and convenient too. For example, Memorize your favorite song, and sing it, memorize a poem that speaks to you also you can record yourself speaking on video.
After all has been said and done, progress is key and yes it will take some work but you wil definitely have results and yes measurable goals are the best when you are trying to learn anything that you put your mind too. Happy Learning!
